I'm switching it up on you.  Here are your new essentials, not just for 2014, but for life. 

1. The Super Casual Jacket

This could range from a jean jacket to a black North Face fleece. As long as you can throw this on for a quick grocery store run then you're good.  I don't care if you are as formal as Queen Elizabeth herself, every woman needs a casual jacket.  Oh, and don't wear this jacket to the gym.  This is not your gym jacket.

2. Riding Boots

I don't believe these are a fad for some.  I mean, I am hoping they are not.  I love my riding boots and can style them in so many ways.  They look great with a pair of jeans and a cardigan, to their original purpose, riding a horse.

Suggestions: Coach, Ralph Lauren, or a department store which sells multiple brands

3. Nude Undergarments

This might be a duh moment but I never really see this appear in essentials lists.  The nude undergarment includes tank tops, panties, and bras.

I know this is comparing tree bark to skin color but I think it's great.  It's important to find the right nude for your color because of course everyone is not the same.

Suggestions: Victoria's Secret, Soma, H&M (I went there last week and they had buy one get one free panties and not to mention $3 and $1 prices.  I actually like H&M's designs better than VS but VS's quality is better)

4.  Statement Necklace

I don't mean one of those colorful, bold necklaces that everyone wears these days.  I mean a gold chain or pearls.  By "statement necklace" I mean it still tells me something about you by what kind of necklace you have on.

Suggestions: Varies, your preference in jewelers. You can wear a piece by Givenchy to Tiffany & Co. to Forever 21.  I'm not judging you.  Although, I do think it's best to stick with real jewelry just because you could break out from fake jewelry or it could turn colors/break easily.

5. Watch

This is probably my favorite.  I'm sure years ago a watch probably only found its way onto a man's essentials list.  For women, it's timeless as well.

Suggestions: Again, your preference but choose wisely. The face of a women's watch is generally smaller than that of a men's collection. 

6. Infinity Scarf

Or any scarf.   The Europeans have been wearing them forever.  This can be worn through all seasons.  I wear mine with my winter coat as well as casually with an outfit.  It's black from Aldo.
