A peace of mind, a good night's sleep, and healthy eating make me feel clean, fresh, and energized. My personal space needs to reflect tranquility and so does yours!

1. An indoor tabletop fountain
I got mine from Target for about $10 USD while at school because well... you definitely need some sort of peace while living in a dorm. This one was easy to set up (I let my RA do all of the work). The rocks are complimentary but if you do not set them up correctly the water will run all over the place AKA all over your important papers, laptop, floor, etc... (yep it happened to me). The best part is the sound of running water!
2. Candles
This Bath & Body Works candle is the freshest thing I have ever smelled. This $20 candle is Eucalyptus Mint and comes from the Aromatherapy collection. The scents are unlimited so find one you like. If you are not allowed to light candles at school (found this out the hard way) try the Aromatherapy pillow mist for $10.
3. Bamboo Plant
If you're looking for something easy to take care of, (and by easy I mean hardly take care of), yet makes you happy just by looking at it then you need a bamboo plant. I got mine from school for free during finals week. Bamboo is meant to bring good luck and fortune (let's just say I passed my finals!) I passed it off to a coworker at my internship so I am currently in need of another. He loves it!
4. Tapestries
My love for tapestries is unconditional. They can add life and peace to any room by being hung on the wall or draped across a couch as a throw blanket. Even use it as a cover on your bed for show. This one is from Urban Outfitters for $44.
5. A Plethora of Books
Need a calm evening? Log out of Twitter, Instagram, Vine, or whichever social media site has plagued your poor brain and grab a book. One of my favorites is "1984" by George Orwell.
6. Calm Music
When I do a quick early morning yoga session I play a beautiful 18 minute song by Ravi Shankar. A sitar puts me in the right kind of trance if I do say so myself.
7. Comfy Chair
In my the ideal corner of my ideal room in my ideal city hangs a swing or hammock. Urban Outfitters has tons for cheaaaap.
8. Cool Wall Art
Any room's mood can be set with a poster, painting, or even a mural if you're feeling artsy. This poster is from Urban Outfitters. "Be Happy" it reads, reminding me of Bob Marley "don't worry 'bout a 'ting, 'cause every little 'ting is gonna be alright". Yeah, definitely a Marley fan over here.
9. Paint
The right paint can go a long way. I have a friend who has black walls in her room and WOW it looks fantastic. It gives it a chic, NYC look contrasting with her white furniture. For a calm, tranquil feeling and look soft blues, aqua blues, pale greens, and beige work well.
10. Pillows
Last but not least, get yourself soft, beautiful pillows, grab that book you love and incorporate at least an hour of reading into your day (or maybe 30 mins if you're crazy busy). Prop the pillows up on your ideal hammock or just your favorite chair, bed, or even on the floor for a "reading corner" feel.
