Lisa Simpson should officially be your idol or at least your spirit animal. Here are 9 reasons that will make you want her as both immediately.

1. Knowledgable

She could literally be one of my college professors and I wouldn't even bat an eye about it.

2. She Reads

From Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" to J.K. Rowlings' "Harry Potter", back to Slyvia Plath's "The Bell Jar" this little girl reads more than you and you should be ashamed... or inspired. Read like Lisa:

3. Plays Saxophone
She has soul and wants to become a jazz saxophonist when she grows up. It takes skill to read music and play an instrument, especially a reed instrument, so kudos to her. And we can't forget her awesome solo in the middle of the show's theme song.

4. Sophisticated
The way she handles her slightly less intelligent family needs some praise. She's like Matilda from the movie... Matilda.

5. Sensible
She's an avatar of wisdom and logic.  She thinks before she acts, which we could all learn from. Also any sister who sees that the rest of her family is dull and tries to teach their little sister to be complex is sensible!

6. Intellectual
She has crushes on intelligent men, you go girl! She converted to Buddhism, and turned vegetarian as well. Lisa has advocated for many political causes making her a force to be reckoned with. She's got a mind of her own and despite being a young girl she knows how to make her own choices.

7. Sophisticated
Well-rounded and well cultured describe a sophisticated person, let alone an 8 year old. She interprets complex situations and is very much enlightened in science and literature enough to have a conversation regarding the topics.

8. She Knows Her Place
As intellectual, spiritual, and mature Lisa is, she still knows how to be a kid. Whether watching the "Itchy and Scratchy" show with Bart, playing with a Malibu Stacy doll, or her love for ponies, Lisa demonstrates that it's okay to act your age.

9. Oh and She's Like 8 Years Old!
All of this and she is only eight years old, enough said.

You could totally use this blog post as an idea for an essay. Go for it! Who do you look up to in real life?
